How do I Adopt a Dog or Cat?

  1. From the Animals & Adoption Tab, select Adoptable Dogs or Adoptable Cats.

  2. Click the Dog/Cat Adoption Application button.

  3. When a new window opens, type your email address and click the Submit button.

  4. Please allow a couple of days for your application to process.

  5. When you receive an approved application notice, please send an email to info@hsnei.org to set up a Meet & Greet with one or our adoptable animals.

 

*Please Note: Applications are good for 1 year and valid for all adoptable animals at HSNEI.

 

HSNEI is unable to hold animals. You may visit with more than one animal at your Meet & Greet session.  An approved application is different from an approved adoption.  An application enables you to set up a Meet & Greet session with more than one animal. An adoption contract allows you to take that animal home with you.

 

If it has been 5+ days since you submitted an application without a response, please check your spam, junk, and trash email folders.  Thank you!

Adoption Policies and Procedures

 

HSNEI is a nonprofit organization that shelters homeless cats and dogs until they can be adopted into their “forever” homes. Adopting an animal is a lifetime responsibility and commitment to that animal.

 

  • HSNEI advocates for the spaying/neutering of companion animals and for the humane treatment and care of all animals.

 

  • Adoption fees range from $50.00-$75.00 for cats and $100.00-$300.00 for dogs depending on the age and gender of the animal. These adoption fees only partially cover the veterinary expenses and housing costs for the animals. 

 

  • After submitting an application, there is a short processing period to complete pre-adoption checks before we contact you to setup a Meet and Greet appointment. Applications are held valid for one year after acceptance. If you do not receive this acceptance email, please make sure to check your junk or spam folders.

  • Potential adoptive families will be allowed to meet foster animals after an adoption application is completed and approved. The entire adoptive family is strongly encouraged to meet the animal before adoption in the case of canine adoptions.

  •  Adopters must be 21 years old to apply to adopt a HSNEI dog or cat, with exceptions at staff discretion.
