*Please Note: Applications are good for 1 year and valid for all HSNEI cats and dogs.
HSNEI is unable to hold animals. You may visit with more than one animal at your Meet & Greet session. An approved application is different from an approved adoption. An application enables you to set up a Meet & Greet session with more than one animal. An adoption contract allows you to take that animal home with you.
If it has been 5+ days since you submitted an application without a response, please check your spam, junk, and trash email folders. If it is not there, please let us know: info@hsnei.org Thank you!
For safety reasons, we ask that anyone 17 years old or younger is accompanied by an adult when visiting with an animal.
Adoption Policies & Procedures
We provide safe shelter for cats & dogs in need while we find their forever families.
Adoption is a lifetime responsibility and commitment to your new family member.
-
We advocate for humane treatment of cats and dogs in our care and in our communities.
-
We make a commitment to be there for your family and assist with adjustment(s) and resources.
-
After submitting our short adoption application, we complete a public record search and contact people to acquire information as necessary to review your application.
-
We will follow up with next steps, and our adoption counselors will be there to guide you each step of the way.
-
Applications are valid for one year after acceptance.
If you do not receive this acceptance email, please make sure to check your junk or spam folders. -
We encourage the entire family to meet with your matched candidates before adopting a new family member.
-
Adoption fees range from $50.00-$75.00 for cats and $100.00-$300.00 for dogs depending on the animal's age and gender.
We intentionally keep these fees as low as possible, even though they do not fully cover veterinary expenses and housing costs. -
We promote and provide assistance for dog and cat spay/neuter surgeries.
-
Rabies vaccinations are required for spay-neuter surgeries.
-
Adopters must be 21 years old to apply to adopt a HSNEI dog or cat, with exceptions at staff discretion.
