Introduction to the Fear Free Shelter Program

Schedule Onsite Orientation When You Fill out the Volunteer Application!

Please schedule a 30-minute in-person orientation--last question on Volunteer Application form--or for a refresher, email volunteers@hsnei.org.

The HSNEI team will be collecting feedback and making informational videos throughout the fall--please send your comments, photos, and/or videos to volunteers@hsnei.org.

Volunteer Times & Onsite Sign In/Out

You are welcome at the HSNEI Love & Friendship Center during Volunteer Hours.

Staff members are expecting you and will greet you at the door--please ring the doorbell.

Please sign in and on the tablet each time you visit.

Note: If you are helping with community events and other assignments, we will discuss volunteer hours and requirements with you based on activities.

Safety for Everyone when Working with Dogs @ HSNEI

For the safety and comfort of dogs, staff members, and volunteers, we provide a certified training program for all dog handlers that includes Fear Free Training Modules.

And...

Fear Free Shelters offers a complimentary membership to all HSNEI Volunteers!

After watching the Introduction video and creating your personal Fear Free Shelters account (including the HSNEI Verification Document with your name & # of volunteer hours/month), you are ready to start on Level 1 Certification!

To get started on Level 1 Certification, complete Fear Free Shelters self-paced training modules 1-4. When finished, please email the certification to HSNEI Volunteers to schedule a meet with an HSNEI staff member to complete Level 1 training.
