HSNEI’s Spay/Neuter Mission:
Provide excellent, accessible, and affordable spay/neuter surgeries that
-Prevent the suffering and death of companion animals
-Enrich the human-companion animal bond
More animals are born every day than there are homes where they can live. The estimated number of homeless animals in the United States exceeds 7.5 million, and thousands of these companion animals are euthanized every year.
We believe we can overcome this problem by networking
and working together as a community.
Many dedicated individuals and organizations in our area work tirelessly to reduce the number of homeless animals in our communities. Currently the birth rate far exceeds the amount of funding and resources required to get ahead of it. To reach our shared goal, we need to reach the 80% rate of spayed and neutered companion animals–both for community cats and for household cat and dog family members.
HSNEI is focused on high-efficiency spay/neuter surgeries with the future goal of realizing a world without homeless pets. These surgeries prevent the births of unplanned and unwanted puppies and kittens, and we will continue to work to increase the number of these births. At this time, we provide services for residents in the Northeast Iowa Counties of Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette, Howard, and Winneshiek.

Managing Companion Animal Overpopulation
Our work with other animal welfare organizations helps to perform more spay/neuter surgeries, which often shortens the length of stay in the shelter before moving to their adoptive homes.
We provide free and subsidized services for residents in the Northeast Iowa Counties of Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette, Howard, and Winneshiek. Our service area is home to almost 80,000 people and 13,242 households with dog and/or cat family members. Your partnership will help us to continue to provide these services. We are continually striving to increase efficiency to keep prices as low as possible.
