How to Donate to the Humane Society of Northeast Iowa

Donate towards the care of the animals

Donations to Operations help us serve the needs of our five counties. These funds pay for the care of the foster and Adoption Center cats and dogs, including food and veterinary expenses. Funds are also needed for extraordinary medical care (Medical Contingencies), Feral Cat control, and our Spay and Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) that assists those with lower income with altering their pets. Please click below to donate at PayPal and note what you would like your donation to be used for, or mail donations to HSNEI at 2345 Millennium Road, Decorah, IA 52101. All donations are tax deductible.

Spay it Forward

Donate to help prevent pet overpopulation in NE Iowa. Each donation goes toward a spay/neuter of an HSNEI animal. Spay/Neuter costs range from $50 to $125 typically. All donations are tax deductible.

Even if you're not able to adopt a pet, you can help homeless animals by sponsoring their care at the Love & Friendship Adoption Center while they wait to find a new home. See more information here.

When you sign up to be a Sponsor, we’ll mount a laminated card on the kennel of your choice in recognition of your contribution with your name, an individual/family name or memorial/club or group name. This is also a wonderful and lasting way to pay tribute to a loved one or pet. All donations are tax deductible.

IRA Gift Option

Good news! Congress has permanently restored the IRA gift option for donors age 70½ and over.

This time, it is a permanent law with no expiration date. While there is little time left to make an IRA charitable rollover gift for 2015, it is good time to start considering your options for next year in order to make sure you take full advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

If you are interested in making a gift in 2015 and you have an Individual Retirement Account, you can transfer up to $100,000 to charities like HSNEI – all without the transfer being counted as taxable income.

It's a simple way to make a charitable gift by using funds from your IRA, plus the transfer will count towards your annual required minimum distribution. Best of all, you'll be providing lifesaving services to those animals in need.

Thank you again for your generous support.
